Fergueson- Everything Is a Remix

What is the primary thesis of this series? What is “remixing?” Explain how Fergueson’s concept of remixing connects to our learning about rhetoric; synthesize Fergueson’s series to any text about rhetoric from class we’ve read so far.

The primary thesis of this series is that it wants to show how there are so many different meanings to symbols that people do not exactly know. There are so many concepts that date back to thousands of years ago, and they had a much different meaning than what they have today. This term “remixing”, originates back to the music industry when people were using other peoples songs and changing them. Many songs that are out today are actually just remixes of older songs. However, this can be used in so many different examples. TV shows, books, paintings, etc. Many books that are written often follow a similar basis. It is not the same people or same time period, but they may follow a similar style of writing or they may follow similar plots without you knowing. It is hard to come up with something original at this point. There are so many different songs or movies that are already out that make it super difficult for something to be original. Everybody has heard of seen a remix of some sort. Weather the artist knows it or not, there is a high change that they are actually remixing something.
