The author of this text is Jason Palmeri. He was a professor at Ohio State University, how ever he is now a professor at Miami University in Ohio. Due to the density of this reading, I believe that this was written for other scholars and not for his students. I feel that it is too complex for students to follow so I believe that other writers would use this.
After reading this writing, it seems that Jason Pamleri’s focus of the reading was on rhetorical appeals. He wanted to show how important they were but also how many there are. He exclaimed several times how many there are and how each one can differ from each other. Pamleri talks about how there are so many different professions that talk within their own ways. Some of the examples that they bring up are lawyers, nurses. They take a look into how nurses talk compared to lawyers. They show how lawyers use very detailed ways on talking and go into great depth when talking, because it is part of their job. When they talk about nurses Pamleri talks about how different they talk compared to lawyers. How they are not as descriptive.
Palermi talks about rhetoric as a way of collaboration and uses this as his definition. He also defines genre as the various different jobs that people can have and ways in which you use it.
